Description
Elekit TU-8450 Preamplifier Kit is a vacuum tube preamp kit embedded with a phono equalizer necessary for playing vinyl records. The amp is full of features which bring out the flavor of vinyl records and enrich your life with music. It is a perfect companion to Elekit TU-8400 SE amplifer kit, dimensionally and visually tailored.
A CR-type RIAA equalizer circuit for straight-forward and smooth sound quality
A CR equalizer with an operational amplifier is adopted. 2068DD OPamps are installed with the IC sockets, so that you can explore sound differences by exchanging this OPamp with other models. The preamp supports both MM and MC cartridges.
Flat amplifier stage consisting of 12AU7 (not included)
12AU7 / ECC82 tubes are adopted for the line amp stage so that you can enjoy sound difference by rolling 12AU7 tubes of various makers.
Very low noise level
Uncompromising measures have been taken for reduction of power supply hum and noise, i.e., a low leakage flux R-core transformer adopted for the main power supply, FET ripple filters for B-power and DC heater supply.
REC-OUT terminal
The signal selected by the input selector is available from REC-OUT connectors. This function is useful when you connect the preamp to a recording device or when you use an external amplifier. LINE 1-4 can also be used as a passive selector even when the preamplifer power is OFF.
Selectable overall gain
TU-8450 is by default set to a gain level that is designed for connection to a typical power amplifier. However, if you are using a power amplifier with high input sensitivity, it may be easier to use if you decreasing the gain of the preamplifier. It can be changed by soldering two dedicated lands at the PCB from default ~13,6 dB (4,8 times) to ~9,5 dB (3 times).
Ample space for a larger coupling capacitor
In TU-8450, non-inductive polypropylene film capacitors covering high frequencies are adopted. Meanwhile, ample space is provided at the TU-8450 PCB, which allows larger size of capacitors for exchange. For exchange, select a capacitor whose rated voltage is higher than 200 V and a capacitance value of 0,47 μF, and the maximum size 36 mm in length and 20 mm in diameter.
The kit contains all required electronic and mechanical parts as well as English language assembly manual.
